Irby Construction Company has been involved in substation construction throughout
most of the company's existence. The projects have ranged from small distribution
to very large 500 kV and 765 kV stations. These projects have been located
throughout most of the United States and in several foreign countries.
On some of the projects, the owner provided design and procurement. Other
projects required engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).
By teaming with a reputable engineer, we furnish a joint effort between
the owner, the engineer, and the contractor.
Our experience allows us to undertake complex design and build projects
and complete them on a fast-track schedule such as:
- Two 230 kV substations in Nevada (design, procurement, construction, and
testing) were completed within 11 months after signing the contract, including
216 miles of 230 kV wood pole H-structures
- Seven substations ranging from 92 kV to 230 kV in California (turnkey EPC)
employing a combination of ring bus and breaker-and-a-half scheme with microwave
for communication and SCADA
- Five 115 kV substations in Belize, Central America (turnkey EPC), including
92 miles of 115 kV wood pole H-structure transmission line
Our expertise is best suited for turnkey projects consisting of a combination
of transmission lines and substations for a utility an independent power
producer requiring fast-track attention
