Irby's experience in constructing steel and aluminum tower transmission lines dates back to the early 1960s. We completed our first extra high voltage (EHV) line in 1967.

Since 1969, when Irby completed the first 765 kV line to be built in the United States, we have been recognized as a leader in the field of EHV powerline construction.

Much of this construction was done in difficult terrain under challenging environmental restraints and in temperatures ranging from -50 degrees Fahrenheit to +120 degrees Fahrenheit and utilized both conventional and helicopter construction methods.

Highlights of our steel and aluminum tower experience include:
  • 6,200 line miles
  • 25,000 structures
  • 324,000 tons of steel and aluminum
